Sicily Divide is a cycling adventure route in Sicily, designed for gravel and mountain bikes, which since 2022 can also be done on a road bike.
In fact, Sicily Divide was created as a mixed-terrain route to ensure an adventurous and fun journey for those wishing to travel in the inland areas of Sicily away from the usual crowded tourist spots.
Until October 2022, it was possible to travel this route only with a gravel bike or a mountain bike, but since October 2022 it is possible to travel it also with a road bike as the route with 100% asphalt on quiet, secondary and rural roads has been inaugurated.

The stages, villages, and soul of the Sicily Divide remain unchanged if you want to ride the route on a road bike. What changes is the type of road surface. We have, in fact, tried to keep the track as close as possible to the original gravel one, removing the unpaved sections.
We have discovered that the charm of the Sicily Divide remains unaltered: from the Arab flavor of western Sicily, where the Ericino Cycling Park promotes the culture of sports cycling, to the wonders of eastern Sicily and especially Etna, where the Etna Cycling Park has revolutionized the concept of road bike enjoyment of the largest volcano in Europe. The Divider’s Pass is used to collect stamps at checkpoints along the route, enjoy prices reserved for Dividers at partner bike hotels, and obtain a certificate of completion as an indelible memory of Sicily by gravel. The pass is free, but with a donation, you can help the Sicily Divide project.
After a day in the saddle, all Dividers want to rest peacefully in a facility that safely stores their precious bicycle. In fact, all accommodations on the Sicily Divide have secure bike storage and special rates.
